OMOIDE CHALLENGE
Omoide Challenge is an initiative created during the difficult global moment generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Omoide” means “Memory” in Japanese and is a musical piece that was originally intended to be played by two people: a shinobue (traditional Japanese flute) player and a wadaiko (Japanese drum) player.
Since the piece’s inception in 2018, a variety of artists have collaborated with this piece of music including and exceeding Japanese art. In this way Omoide became a versatile piece given its musical structure and its flexibility to join other artists.
The objectives of the Omoide Challenge are to show that:
- Beyond social distancing, music keeps us together.
- A musical piece can have as many versions as there are artists participating in it.
